Please join us on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 3-5 p.m. ET for a virtual demo day to see how our nine AI Poverty Challenge finalists are using AI to create breakthrough solutions to fight poverty in the U.S.
With support from GitLab Foundation, Bezos Family Foundation, and Deloitte, the Challenge aims to identify effective uses of AI in education, financial empowerment, and workforce development, and to inspire more efforts to apply AI in service of expanding upward mobility from poverty.
From these finalists, three winners will be selected (one in each field) and each will receive a $1 million prize. These demos are part of the winner selection process. You will hear short, seven-minute presentations from:
Education
- Beyond 12 Education, Inc – A Gen AI college success coach to increase economic mobility
- Paloma Learning, Inc – Harnessing AI to unleash marginalized parents’ untapped teaching potential
- Teaching Lab with Coursemojo and Magpie – Leveraging AI to improve student literacy and optimize teacher time
Financial Empowerment
- The Legal Aid Society with Columbia University’s Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic – AI with a human touch to streamline helpline services
- Nava PBC – Helping staff navigate benefits programs for others through chatbots
- Upsolve – The financial assistant for low-income Americans
Workforce Development
- CodePath.org – Transforming tech education and employment outcomes for underrepresented college students
- FutureFit AI with Chinese-American Planning Council – AI-enabled workforce servicers that enable connections between the workforce and social supports
- Unlocked Labs – Unlocking opportunity by using AI to empower learners who are incarcerated
