Alyssa Lees is an Engineering Manager focused on Natural Language Processing (NLP) at Two Sigma. Prior to her time at Two Sigma, she utilized machine learning and NLP for a variety of applications both in product development and research. She spent seven years at Google as a Tech Lead Manager, Staff Software Engineer and Senior Research Engineer. In these roles, Alyssa led technical strategy for cross-organizational and external projects mitigating harms in online discourse, created models for news, contributed techniques towards responsible AI, and published research in KDD, EMNLP, VLDB and ACL on knowledge acquisition. In addition, she has several years of experience in the financial space at JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and running a start-up using Computer Vision for the fashion industry. Alyssa holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from New York University and a B.S. in Statistics from Brown University.
