Carmelo Barbaro is the Executive Director of the Inclusive Economy Lab at the University of Chicago. Together with Faculty Director Marianne Bertrand, he works closely with policymakers and community-based organizations to generate research that advances social mobility and racial equity in Chicago. He previously worked at the Boston Consulting Group, and spent several years working in urban planning and community development in Chicago. Carmelo is a lifelong Chicagoan and proud Chicago Public Schools alum. He holds degrees from Harvard University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Chicago Continuum of Care.
