Sunmoon is the Executive Director at Communitas America. Over the course of 12 cohorts of the Communitas Ventures Accelerator program, she and her team have built a close community of over 200 early-stage entrepreneurs in education, financial inclusion, and wellness/food justice in the Bronx and Harlem, aiming for systems change. In January 2023, Communitas America opened Heyground, an incubator space in Harlem, the third Heyground globally.

With nearly three decades of experience across global consumer companies and nonprofits in New York and Seoul, Sunmoon brings extensive cross-sector collaboration potential to address local issues. She has spoken at the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) and Fondation Chanel’s Ensemble conference on women empowerment (2018) and researched gender inequality in venture capital in the U.S. (2016).

Sunmoon writes quarterly about ecosystem building for early-stage entrepreneurs in New York City and focuses on neighborhood-level data collection using ZIP Code analysis to improve resource allocation and address community inequities.
