Lystra Batchoo is currently VP & Associate General Counsel at Vox Media, a digital media company whose properties include New York Magazine, Eater, and SB Nation. She provides legal and strategic guidance across the company’s lines of business, including digital advertising, events, and ecommerce. As part of Vox Media's leadership team, Lystra serves as a representative regarding its DEI+ efforts. Prior to Vox Media, Lystra was Assistant General Counsel at BuzzFeed. Earlier in her career, she was a staff attorney at the National Advertising Division and a litigation associate at Kelley Drye & Warren. Lystra graduated with honors from Brooklyn Law School where she was a published member of the law review. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University where she majored in American History. She is currently Vice-Chair of the advertising law and commercial speech committee of the Media Law Resource Center. As an immigrant and one of the first college graduates in her family, she cares deeply about giving those in need a voice and a chance.
